During this period of disruption, a sense of community is even more important. Each spring semester, hundreds of students at Cornell University gather on Monday nights to learn about Cornell history by taking AMST 2001: The First American University. With the suspension of classes for three weeks, all members of the Cornell community were invited to join in the fun with a virtual Cornell History Happy Hour each Monday night (March 16, 23, and 30). Recordings of those Cornell History Happy Hours are available at http://live.alumni.cornell.edu/

Regular class sessions for AMST 2001 resume on April 6th, 7:30-8:45 p.m. ET, but will continue to be broadcast live to alumni via this Zoom registration. For information about the course syllabus or schedule, email Corey at cre8@cornell.edu. Recordings of AMST 2001 class lectures beginning on April 6th will only be available to current students.

AMST 2001 is taught by Corey Ryan Earle ’07 and explores Cornell’s identity as “the first American university,” referring to its unique role as a coeducational, nonsectarian, land-grant institution with a broad curriculum and diverse student body.

This registration provides access to all future Monday night sessions using the same Zoom link. Email reminders will be sent an hour in advance before each week's session. To be removed from the registration list, email cre8@cornell.edu.
