With a heart-pumping ascent to breathtaking vistas, Mission Peak is one of the most challenging and rewarding East Bay hikes. Don’t miss the opportunity enjoy this scenic hike.

Join Cornell University alumni and friends for a hike of the infamous Hidden Valley Trail to Mission Peak summit. We'll hike a partially paved trail over 2,100 feet in elevation change. The scenery is breathtaking. There is an abundance of wildlife - including eagles, hawks, cows, deer, and the occasional human hanglider.

Rest assured, you will have the opportunity to take photos at the famous Mission Peak summit. It’s one of the most geotagged landmarks in Silicon Valley!

Date: Saturday, October 15 at 11:00 AM. Please arrive 20 minutes early. The hike will begin promptly at 11:00 AM.

Location: Mission Peak Ohlone trail entrance (paid parking can be found in the parking structures at Ohlone college near 43600 Mission Blvd., Fremont). This is a different entrance than the main entrance (the Stanford Trail). The Ohlone trail, which we will be using, offers a shadier route and more parking opportunities near the entrance thanks to the Ohlone College parking structures. Further information about the route and parking is here

Difficulty level: Challenging. This is a steep and lengthy hike.

Trail Length: About 6 miles on a partially paved trail with approximately 2,100 feet of vertical elevation change.

Special Notes: Please wear RED so we can easily keep the group together. Bring two bottles of water and plenty of sunscreen - the trail is completely exposed at points. Consider bringing snacks for yourself- you will want them. Dress in several layers, as it may get chilly near the summit.

Please note that if the day is hot, you may want to reconsider bringing your pets.

Cornell University is not liable in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak. Registrants will participate at their own risk. Please do not attend if you  are COVID positive, are feeling unwell, or are exhibiting any COVID symptoms such as fever, shortness of breath, or a cough.
